Lumen X is a self-organized, open photo lab in Vienna, supported by a diverse community—from artists and activists to self-taught photographers. In this exhibition, we present analogue works created between darkroom, exchange, and improvisation.
The exhibition reflects not only photographic processes but also social realities: As a laboratory in the precariat, we work with limited resources but great dedication. Our practice is characterized by solidarity-based knowledge transfer, shared resources, and the attempt to create a sustainable space for analog image production – beyond the logic of commercial exploitation.
Put on the red light makes visible what would otherwise remain in the dark: collective work, experimental techniques and the political dimension of analogue photography.
